Eginton Alignment Teachers are accepted on the basis of their talent for alignment and body work, and their personal integrity. They apprentice over a two-four year period in:  Daily Dozen, Upright Lessons, Table Work, and other sequences.  They study foundational readings, take part in seminars, and observe Meg teaching privately, in larger group classes, doing Table Work, and coaching performing artists. Usually they begin by coming to the three week Atlantic Theater Advanced Acting workshop in the summer and take Daily Dozen classes, observe acting classes and learn either Upright work or Table work at an introductory level. They then practice their skills under Meg’s  guidance and supervision.  To receive their Level One Certification teachers must complete 500 hours of study, 1o0 hours of which is in teaching students in workshop labs for which they do not charge without Meg’s permission.  They then must pass a rigorous exam covering anatomy, specific alignment problems and solutions, and teaching ethics and techniques.  After receiving their certificate they are free to charge money for teaching The Daily Dozen, giving workshops, private lessons, labs, and Table Work.


At present Julianne Kusmierczyk, Susannah Frith, and Meg Eginton are available for teaching and individualized therapy work.  Julianne is based in Los Angeles and New York, Susannah is based in Canberra, AU, and Margaret is based in Iowa City and Burlington, VT. All will travel elsewhere to teach workshops. Chrissy Steele is available to teach Daily Dozen Classes and is based in the St. Louis, MO area.

is a graduate of New York University Tisch School of the Arts with a  BFA in Drama, where she studied at the Atlantic Acting School.  During her undergraduate program, Julianne was introduced to, and continued to study Eginton Alignment, not only through NYU Atlantic Acting School but also at FSU/Asolo Conservatory under the direction of Margaret. She moved to Los Angeles in 2009 to pursue a career in both film and television. Julianne has since become the first certified teacher of Eginton Alignment.  Besides working with private students,  she also teaches with the Atlantic LA Kids Program and the adult Conservatory Program; Discovery Onstage and Providence High School; and S.O.D.E. School of performing Arts.

Chrissy Calkins Steele

is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at Principia College where she teaches acting, voice, theatre history, dramatic literature and directs. She leads a student abroad to England with a focus on Shakespeare. Her M.A. is from The Shakepseare Institute at Stratford-upon-Avon. She also holds an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Godard College. As an actor, Chrissy worked professionally in Chicago with numerous companies performing children’s theatre, new works at such theatres as Organic Theatre, Ivanhoe Theatre and Wisdom Bridge, and Shakespeare with the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.

Eginton Alignment Teachers Pledge
1. I will do everything we can to relieve pain and to teach people techniques to manage and relieve pain at home.
2. I will support people’s autonomy over their physical goals and training. I will incorporate people’s ideas about how they want to learn and what they want to learn into their training plan.
 3. I will recognize people’s need for flexibility in scheduling and, ultimately, independence from an alignment teacher. We will accommodate work and financial schedules whenever possible.

4. I will practice excellence and guarantee my work. If a student expresses reasonable dissatisfaction with a lesson, I will refund their fee, or schedule a free lesson.
